American education is in crisis. Every year, millions of children pass through America's schools without receiving a quality education that prepares them to succeed in life, compete in the increasingly competitive global economy, and maintain the blessings and responsibilities of a free society.

Utah has a fine tradition of public education with both District and Charter Schools meeting and exceeding standards across the state. We need to strengthen the opportunities for all students and reach out to all to find mutually beneficial solutions. Utah must improve it's opportunities for our children by better leveraging technology, expanding school choice and better prioritizing our dollars. One of the key changes that must be made is how Utah funds the schools. Currently funding for students across the state varies dramatically by where the school is located. Allowing funding inequity in the current system is what caused the Jordan School District split. The solution will be hard work and will be an uphill battle if we are to truly bring a solution. Teachers, Administrators, Policy Makers, and Parents will need to be involved in the solution, it can't be done alone.
